Darmawan Liswanto

Graduated from Faculty of Biology Nasional University, has over 25 years experience working in Indonesia on nature conservation, particularly related to protected area management, species conservation, forest governance and law enforcement. He joined FFI in 2009 as the Indonesia Country Programme Director, managing FFI’s largest country programme globally and working with multi-stakeholders in palm oil dominated landscapes. Darmawan brings a wealth of experience to FFI and the Indonesia programme. He step down from FFI in May 2016.

 

Prior to FFI he work for the USAID Orangutan Conservation Support Program as Kalimantan Regional Coordinator since 2007 to 2009 and was Executive Director for Titian Foundation, a national-local NGO focused on

conservation, forest policy, law enforcement, governance and social empowerment. During this period, Darmawan had been actively

involve in development of Government Regulations related with Conservation of Flora and Fauna, park management and forest law

enforcement. He was join with WWF as a Conservation, Science and Monitoring Manager for Sundaland Bioregion from 2000-2001 and

as Species Conservation Officer from 1996-1998. Prior to that he taking several consultancy works for WCS, UK ODA and the World

Bank’ Coral Reef Management Program.

 

Currently Darmawan work as Independent Consultant on Biodiversity Conservation and Management and related technical and policy issue.
